Pray For One Another

I have heard many applications of James 5:16, most of which lean to being accountable to one another. Today it occurs to me that there is another layer to "and pray for one another".

I am not claiming sickness. Yes, I am coughing and I was feverish through the night, but God's Word tells us by Christ's stripes we are healed. So I am healed. This is where denying the flesh becomes our greatest battle. Everything in my body feels sick, but God's Word says I am healed. I can whine that I am sick or I can claim healing...I cannot do both.

Sometimes when we are sick or injured the pain is so great. This is why we need to pray for one another. Sometimes burdens become so heavy or pain so great, we lose focus on the promises of God. When we pray for each other, we strengthen each other. Have you ever been in so much pain you could not speak a prayer? You wanted to pray, maybe you could say "Jesus" but an actual prayer escaped you.

Today, I am asking for your prayers. Not just for me to lean into the promise of healing instead of my feelings of sickness. Pray for others you know are struggling. Maybe it is physical sickness, maybe it is depression, anxiety or some other attack. The point is when someone asks you to pray for them...PRAY. It is a command that we pray for one another.

We spent the last few weeks at church talking about praise and worship. That is a command too. So take some time today and seek God. Worship Him. Thank Him, specifically, for all He has done for you. Then pray with the same intentionality for others. Praying for one another is a sincere outpouring of love...use it daily.
