Words of Life Promise Box V1
I was doing deep cleaning of the Gallien family home yesterday when I came across a Perpetual Words of Life Promise Box. About a year ago I used this box with my small group of 7th and 8th grade girls. We each selected a card with a scripture. For every person the card they pulled spoke to some situation in their lives. It was a special time of connecting.
This box has a date written in my Granny Wheeler's handwriting of '44 and my Uncle James name written beside it. This may have been a gift to Granny from my Uncle. The box is at least 74 years old. As expected the cards are aged and the box itself is weathered and tattered from years of use and storage.
It occurred to me as I examined the box, this was a perfect way to introduce a series on my blog. My plan is to take each card that remains in the box and write about the scripture. It gives me an opportunity to meditate on the word and grow deeper myself. Perhaps it will inspire you to look closer at these verses as well. We can help each other dig deeper. After all, the word states, "Iron sharpens iron."

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly." Psalm 1:1
Seems to me this is an ideal verse to start things off. If you are a regular reader you know that earlier this week I had a meltdown. Things were just so hard that day. When I posted my blog I got an overwhelming response from other women in my church and family. Godly women giving me encouragement. Some simply said they were praying for me. Others sent scriptures, songs, or random text messages to brighten my day. There was no pity. No justification for falling apart. No encouragement to "let it all out". Just encouragement to trust God and reach out for my sisters in Christ.
Worldly friends, or anyone not striving to stay in tune with God has a different reaction. They stir the pot. They join you in your frustration and fan the flames of discontent and disillusion. They recommend getting drinks and trash talking. I know because that was what the old me would want to do. I am so thankful it is not me anymore - new creation and all that goes with it.
Even in my times of struggle walking with godly men and women blesses and strengthens me. This little verse reminds me that the company I keep impacts the tone set in my life. Iron sharpened iron this week and I have been strengthen and lifted by their counsel. God is amazing.
So how about you? What does this verse say to you? Please feel free to leave comments to encourage others. God Bless.
